Biden's 1st Year Scoreboard

PAID LEAVE

The promise: Guarantee 12 weeks paid family and medical leave. What has been done: After being cut from the Build Back Better (BBB) Act, a massive outcry followed, and four weeks of paid leave was re-added into the final House bill.

ECONOMY

The promise: Raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour. What has been done: This promise was shelved in a failed bid at trade-off for the BBB Act — which is now on ice. The federal minimum remains at a scandalously unlivable $7.25 an hour.

CLIMATE CRISIS

The promise: End new coal, oil, and gas leasing on federal land. What has been done: The Biden administration offered 80 million acres of the Gulf of Mexico for oil and gas leasing.

CUBA

The promise: Re-establish relations similar to those loosened somewhat by Obama. What has been done: Tossing aside all pretense of normalizing relations, Biden carries on with the usual bipartisan aggression of sanctions and more.

LABOR RIGHTS

The promise: Pass the PRO Act that would make union organizing easier. What has been done: After quickly passing the House, the PRO Act was sent in mid-March 2021 to the Senate. With no presidential support, the act will likely die in committee.

WAR

The promise: Biden promised to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for Yemen war. What has been done: Despite his campaign rhetoric, Biden follows in the complicit footsteps of Trump and Obama, signing off on a massive arms deal with Saudi Arabia.
